History Lesson – Happy Birthday

the manI haven’t written for a few days as I really didn’t know what to say. Dad turned 96 on Sunday….how lucky am I? He is an amazing man — we celebrated with lottery tickets, football and cake. Dad amazes me…we continued to discuss Syria and his distaste for more boots on the ground.

He is a compassionate person…he is also retired military….he is also a smart man. He doesn’t understand…nor do I….the logic of sending our troops to another death trap. When did we become the world’s salvation to peace….something we have yet to achieve in Afghanistan, Iraq and/or Syria?

I love my dad — he is a history lesson to me….he is charming, a good man and my hero. I only wish I could bring him the peace he deserves ….. it is around the corner, however, the people in our life are not assisting.

So easy and so hard….yet, I look at the good — we survived 9/11 for 12 years.
