Blue Hawaii

Hawaii playland….

I remember those days and afternoons of making leis for guests from the mainland. I would always use plumeria’s…the smell was breathtaking. We had beautiful flowers surrounding our home…I would choose ever so carefully. It always depended on who was visiting and how precise I wanted to be with my art. I was the official greeter as guests arrived to our home. My competition were the wonderful older ladies at the airport who would entice you with their crafted leis. I can still smell their flowers. So sad the wonderful tradition has gone away, along with the jobs.

Wow, I see myself running over to my day’s restaurant to pick extra flowers….he had beautiful trees surrounding his club. I loved picking the flowers late in the evening and then going to see dad in his office. He always made time for me. He was my dad.
